Belray 10w-50
Full Synthetic V-Twin Oil - $17.99/Quart
I've been puttering with
oil blends for the past few years, finally ending up with my own concoction
of oils that provided quick lubrication of the top end of Ducatis, yet
held up under the heat that both the water-cooled and oil-cooled 2V, 3V
and 4V motors endure. When Belray came out with a 10w-50 oil, I knew I
had a candidate. I tested the oil late in 2007 and am happy to report
that it's the best oil I've seen, both for quick lubrication of the top
end, and good viscosity at high temps. If you already using a good motorcycle-related
oil, you are doing more than most people, but this stuff will be going
into all of my Ducs from now on. I have access to any oil I want from
resale vendors, but this is the only one I choose to stock. Don't send
me an email asking me why I chose this oil. Getting into oil an discussion
is the quickest way to scare off someone. This stuff is damn expensive,
but compared to engine wear, it's cheap. No more garage-concocted blends
for me.
Product Description:
Belray v-Twin Synthetic
Motor Oil is a fully synthetic, multi-grade , 4-stroke engine oil formulated
to provide the ultimate performance and protection for V-Twin engines.
Equally suitable for air or liquid cooled engines. Bel-Ray V-Twin Synthetic
Motor Oil meets or exceeds V-Twin requirements and will not void warrantees.
Characteristics:
- Ultimate Engine Protection
- Exclusive Bel-Ray Synthetic Motor Oil reduces bearing and valve train
wear, and keeps pistons and rings from scufing.
- Maximized Horsepower
- Features high polarity synthetic base oils which provide minimum friction
for increased power.
- Minimized Oil Consumption
- Flashpoint is extremely which, which prevents oil burn-off, virtuall
eliminates oil consumption, and keeps hot engines protected.
- Reduced Engine Operating
Temperatures - Removes deposits, dissipates heat, and lowers friction
to significantly reduce engine operating temperatures. (Note: I haven't
quantified this on Ducatis)
- Extended Oil Life - Shear-stable
viscosity modifiers fight viscosity breakdown, and low volatility base
oils resist the formation of sludge and deposits so you can go further
between oil changes. (NOTE: I still replace oil every 4000 miles or
every winter)
- Cold Start Protection
- Cold starts are easy thanks to the wide viscosity range, which is
an engine saver thanks to the advanced formula that molecularly bonds
with metal surfaces for continous protection.
