Desmo Times Steering Stem Nut W/Ram Mount - $94.99 ($35 for optional steering stem nut tool - Save $5)

It's often hard to find a place to mount electronic devices to Ducatis. My solution is to replace the steering stem nut with one that will accept a RAM ball. The steering stem nut is billet aluminum and matches the fit and finish of the OEM nut. In the center is a 3/8" threaded hole for use with a 1" diameter (standard) RAM mount ball. Included is the RAM mount ball. Owners can then use any one of the hundreds of RAM mount bases available from GPScity.com or similar websites that sell RAM mounts. The Nut will work with any Ducati that uses this style steering stem nut, such as Post-2001 Monsters, MTS, 748-999 Superbikes, ST Series, Sport Classics, etc. It will NOT work on the MTS (unless aftermarket bar risers are used) and the Paul Smart Sport Classic (due to fairing stay mount in center of steering stem nut). In order to replace your stock nut, you'll need a steering stem nut removal tool that I sell here. Loosen the 3 top triple clamp pinch bolts (be careful of the one on the back closest to the fuel tank as the head of the bolt has a tendency to strip). On 98-03 ST models remove the bolts holding the clip ons in place and lay a towel under them as you flop them over onto the fairing sides. Next, pull of the top triple clamp. If it is stuck, squirt some WD-40 down onto the fork tube tops and the steering stem nut. Remove the stock nut with the steering stem nut tool, tighten the new nut in place, lube the fork tube tops and steering stem nut with a light coat of grease to ease the top triple clamp installaton , replace the top triple clamp and retorque the triple tree bolts.

NOTE: The Billet nut can also be installed with a 3/8" bolt, a jam nut and a washer. Simply thread in the billet nut, thread in a 3/8" bolt with a nut and a washer on the bottom to prevent galling the nut and tighten the bolt/jam nut. Then use a torque wrench to tighten the bolt to spec.
