setup eliminates the problem of the nut backing off the crankshaft - a
problem on Post-1990 Ducatis.
FAQ
1.
What are the advantages of a dual-nut flywheel nut system?
While the first
nut applies torque to the flywheel, the second nut applies torque to the
first nut. When combined with the recommended red loctite threadlock,
the system eliminates instances of the flywheel nut backing off the crankshaft
2.
What happens when the flywheel nut back off?
If the flywheel
nut backs off, the threads on the the crankshaft can get damaged, the
stator will get ruined and the left side case can sustain damage. The
cost can be significant.
3.
Please explain the design of the nuts.
The nuts are
constructed of 4130 grade steel that is then heat-treated. The inner nut
has an OD of 38mm, while the OD has an OD of 36mm. This allows the nuts
to be installed easily. An inner spacer is included to stand the nuts
off from the flywheel. The stock torque of 190 Nm should be used when
using these nuts.
4.
Who
manufactures this nut system?
The flywheel
nuts are manufacturered by Slingshot mfg.
5.
Will this nut system work with my Ducati?
This variant
of flywheel will fit ALL 1999+ fuel-injected Ducati models EXCEPT rare
R/SPS 996 models from 1999-2001.
