O2
Manipulator - $80.00
Here's a product I've been
waiting for ever since Ducati began using closed-loop fuel injection.
The problem with Ducatis with closed loop injection is the O2 sensor and
the stringent Euro 3 emission standards it was designed for. Simply put,
Ducatis with O2 sensors are designed to run with a very lean fuel/air
mixture.
Before this product, a Ducati
owner had two choices - 1 - trying to simply disconnect the O2 Sensor,
deal with the engine check light and hope that the ECU doesn't go into
limp-home mode or 2 - purchase the $850 Ducati Performance ECU, which
converts the bike back to an open loop injection system with adjustable
idle mixture.
How is the Fatduc setup
better? Well, first, it's about $750 cheaper than the DP ECU. Basically,
it defeats the lean flaw in the fuel mapping of the stock ECU by fooling
the computer. The O2 manipulator attaches
inline between the O2 sensor and the computer. A rheostat on the O2 manipulator
allows adjustment of 13.0/1 - 14.2/1 fuel-air mixtures, allowing an owner
to tune out low end stumbles, surging, glowing header pipes, and other
problems wrought by a lean mixture. THe products ire really designed for
trackday enthusiasts. Simply attached the Fatduc prior to your trackday,
and disconnect it to return to street EPA-legal form. 1 Year warranty.
